TRUST DEMOLITION is a personal photographic exploration of psychotherapist abuse. I conceived it with the intent of healing from the recent betrayal of a psychotherapist. Throughout my life, photography has been a valued means of expression. For this reason, I chose to share my photographs with an interpretation of the abuser’s behavior and motivations. Similarly, the photos reflect my understanding of the consequences on me. Because photography and various forms of psychotherapy have been intertwined for more than a century, I rely on that connection to describe the images’ features and layout. Most importantly, the project makes prominent the trauma that “soul murder” has had on me, including the lack of trust in the psychotherapeutic framework. Finally, I seek that the project’s website (www.trustdemolition.org) helps other victims of psychotherapist abuse consider art as a suitable venue to free from the toxicity of their experience.
Beautiful, powerful, inspirational. Thank you for showing this work to the world.
Thanks. It’s a reminder to the perpetrators that we have no fear of telling.
Wow. Incredibly moving. I understand so much better.
Good and healing thoughts to you.
